WOOD PROTECTION THROUGH VACUUM PROCESS IMPREGNATION

IS THE TREATMENT HARMFUL TO THE ENVIRONMENT?

Treated wood can be harmful to the environment, especially the bottom-of-the-range items, which after some time may lose any product that is poorly fixed.

By using the correct concentrations and optimally applying the treatment, there is no danger, even during direct contact with the treated wood.

This is why it is necessary to select high-quality wood for outdoor use, which is regularly checked by independent organisations.

WHAT DOES THE IMVAC LABEL COVER?

The IMVAC label is a quality label granted to the impregnation plants which use the autoclave. In order to guarantee a constant, high quality standard, the IMVAC label management group carries out checks of an essentially technical nature on the activities of the plants which display the label.

This plant checking system is based on a dual procedure: self-checks combined with permanent external checks.

The external check is conducted by the Centre Technique de l'Industrie du Bois - CTIB (technical centre for the wood industry).

Four points are systematically monitored:
       - The wood, in terms of quality and residual humidity;
       - The product, which has to comply with the product stated by the plant;
       - The treatment solution in terms of concentration, percentage composition of active ingredients, physical and chemical qualities, etc.;
       - The process, both in terms of the state of the installation and the application of the solution and the penetration of the solution in the wood and the retention achieved in the product.

Furthermore, the use of treated wood contributes to the reduction of forestry felling.

The T.P.B. S.A. industrial wood treatment plant is ATG035 -CTB-B+ approved.
